Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who can volunteer at the Indy Kids Sale?
A: Any registered consignor is welcome to volunteer.
Q: How do I sign up to become a volunteer at the sale?
A: Simply visit the “View Workshifts” section of our website to view all available shifts and to sign up.
Q: When can I sign up to volunteer?
A: Volunteer registration is open during our regular consignor registration. Please make sure to sign up right away for the shifts that you would like. All shifts are limited and fill up very quickly. Make sure you are on the mailing list and follow us on facebook and twitter to get the latest news and info regarding registration.
Q: What are the presale, high volume, husband and re-sort shifts?
A: There are two types of presale, high volume, husband and re-sort shifts. One is a six hour shift. Because these times are so busy we really need volunteers that are there the majority of the time. Volunteers working a six hour shift will be able to shop one hour earlier than those that work two regular three hour shifts. We also offer a three hour shift during our high volume, husband and re-sort shifts because we know that some volunteers are unable to give six hours of time all at once. Only shifts labeled as "Presale," "High Volume," "Husband" and "Re-sort' on the list of shifts count as those shifts. Please know that these shifts fill up extremely fast.
Q: What if I don't show for my volunteer shift?
A: Please read our guidelines for no-shows in our volunteer agreement

Q: What types of jobs will I be asked to do at the sale?
A: There are a variety of jobs to be done at the sale. We have needs during the drop off times for people to help put items on the sales floor. We have volunteers who straighten the floor and keep it looking nice during the sale, people who help at the check out stations and volunteers who sort remaining items after the sale to get ready for the consignor pick-up time.
Q: What time do I need to arrive for my volunteer shift?
A: We ask all of our volunteers to arrive approximately 15 minutes before his or her shift begins so that jobs can be assigned and instructions given.
Q: Can I bring my kids with me to my volunteer shift?
A: We kindly ask that you not bring kids during the volunteer hours. This is a crazy time with a lot of work going on and an easy place for a child to get hurt. Thanks for understanding
Q: Can my husband work a volunteer shift?
A: Yes! We are happy to have husbands volunteer. In fact we have shifts specifically designed for husbands. Just look for the word "husband" in the description of the shift. If your husband works a shift it will count as a shift for you.
